Singapore-based Sterling Knight, an insurance brokerage and risk management consultancy firm with experience in local and international risk management of more than 35 years, recognized the need to source for improved technology to increase data integrity using cloud applications. According to Chief Operating Officer Lawrence Adam, Sterling Knight needed more than passwords to address the regulatory requirements in Singapore, which include guarantees of both business continuity and customer privacy. He looked to hardware-based authentication and cloud services that required a lower capital and operational expenditure. The company began exploring a joint solution between OneLogin and Yubico with the aim of achieving "compliance, increased security and access control, and application integration" . Currently, Sterling Knight is using the innovative authentication key provided by Yubico and OneLogin's single sign-on and identity management service. This simplifies the process of logging into the OneLogin Application Portal with a one-time password (OTP) token that does not require any additional client software or drivers, thereby protecting access to its Web applications without compromising ease-of-use. All three companies expressed confidence that the solution effectively addresses security, compliance and cost challenges common to financial service companies across the globe. The manifold advantages of this solution elevate Sterling Knight's values of Integrity, Trust and Speed internally and to clients. The cost effectiveness and ease-of-use of the joint solution allows the company to expand its operations by enabling employees to work remotely. By doing away with complex systems with multiple passwords, the "implementation of the OneLogin/YubiKey solution was so simple that even our least technically-inclined employees were trained to use it in about 15 minutes", according to Adam. The company has expanded its clientele globally and widened its service offerings with quicker and more focused customer convenience inherent in this newly implemented process.
